Meet Mr. Steve and the Appleseed Music Program

Appleseed Music Program was created around a simple but meaningful belief: every child should have the opportunity to learn music, regardless of their family's financial circumstances.
Led by Mr. Steve, known to many as Steve Lloyd, the program brings free music lessons to children at libraries throughout Crawford County, Arkansas. Through hands-on instruction, encouragement, and access to musical instruments, the program helps young learners discover what they can accomplish when given the opportunity to try.
For approximately five to six years, Mr. Steve has been dedicated to helping children experience the benefits of music education. The current class has been running for the past two years, continuing the program's commitment to accessible, community-based learning.

A Mission Rooted in Opportunity

Music can open doors to creativity, self-expression, and personal growth. However, purchasing an instrument and paying for lessons can be difficult for many families.
Appleseed Music Program helps bridge that gap by offering lessons free of charge and raising funds to purchase instruments for students. Children begin by learning guitar or ukulele, giving them a practical introduction to rhythm, chords, and playing music.
When students complete their class, they get to keep their instruments for free. This important part of the program allows children to continue learning, practicing, and exploring music beyond the classroom.

Our Mission

Our mission is to make music education accessible to children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to learn an instrument. We strive to create a welcoming learning environment where young musicians can develop their skills, build confidence, and discover the joy of making music.

Our Vision

We envision a community where financial barriers do not prevent children from exploring their interests and developing their talents. By connecting music education with community resources and generous support, we hope to help more children discover a lifelong appreciation for music.
